Will There Be A Season 2 Of My Lady Jane?
My Lady Jane has sparked a tremendous push for its revival. My Lady Jane is a Prime Video historical fantasy series about Lady Jane Grey and her husband Guildford, who must fight off jealous criminals after Jane is unexpectedly crowned Queen. My Lady Jane season 1 premiered in June of this year and consisted of only eight episodes. The cast includes Emily Bader, Edward Bluemel, Anna Chancellor, Rob Brydon, Kate O’Flynn, Henry Ashton, Dominic Cooper, and Oliver Chris.
A Change.org petition has now been launched, demanding that My Lady Jane return for season 2. This petition encouraging Prime Video to revive the series currently has over 55,000 signatures. The petition expressed the requests, writing, “We are calling on Amazon Prime to listen to the voices of fans all over the world and confirm the renewal of ‘My Lady Jane’ for a second season.” In addition to the petition, supporters launched a Save My Lady Jane website and a GoFundMe page.
My Lady Jane Season 2 Has Been Cancelled
The petition on Change.org contained video testimonies from My Lady Jane admirers. One viewer asked Prime Video to reconsider, adding “Who says it won’t gain more traction during season 2.” Another observer described it as “a breath of fresh air,” noting that the Prime Video series filled in the vacuum left by Bridgerton after season 3. Another petitioner stated they “truly want to see where Guildford and Jane’s story goes,” expressing their passion for the acclaimed show.
This petition follows Prime Video’s announcement last month that My Lady Jane would not be renewed for season two. The argument was that the series did not garner enough attention to crack Nielsen’s top ten for streaming originals. The cancellation took viewers aback because My Lady Jane had received rave reviews. Its Tomatometer is 95%, while the audience Popcornmeter is 90%.
My Lady Jane Season 2 Release Date – Cancelled
One of the petitioners mentioned Bridgerton when discussing their admiration for the canceled series, indicating that the Netflix show had overlapping audiences. My Lady Jane, like Bridgerton, is a period piece based on a book with romance as the main selling point, thus the Prime Video series will appeal to a similar audience. As a result, there was speculation that My Lady Jane might benefit from its proximity to the Netflix blockbuster since Prime Video could promote it to an overlapping audience.
However, My Lady Jane’s intimate relationship with the Netflix series may have backfired. Bridgerton Season 3, Part 2 was released on June 13, exactly two weeks before Prime Video’s romantic series. Season 3 was at the top of the Netflix global top 10 when My Lady Jane debuted, and it remained at number four the following week. As a result, fans who could appreciate both shows may have continued to binge Bridgerton on Netflix, diverting attention away from the Prime Video series.
On Prime Video, My Lady Jane was released during the first part of The Boys season 4. Although it is less likely to share viewership with My Lady Jane, the superhero show’s weekly premiere was a much larger deal for Prime Video than the latter. As a result, Prime Video may have focused much of its attention on The Boys, limiting the epic fairy tale show’s exposure.
Could My Lady Jane Season 2 Be Revived?
Given these variables, Prime Video’s release plan could change if the cancelation is reversed. The streamer might still aim to appeal to a Bridgerton fan base but avoid a simultaneous release with Bridgerton season 4. Prime Video could also promote My Lady Jane as a major program, avoiding advertising rivalry from headliners such as The Boys and Reacher.
Right now, the campaign to bring back My Lady Jane is merely an online petition, and Prime Video has yet to respond. However, the fact that so many admirers are uniting behind My Lady Jane is certainly a positive indication. Perhaps the show’s loyal viewership will be enough to persuade the streamer to give the show a second chance or to be picked up by another network.
