Is The View Being Cancelled For 2025?

Rumors on social media have viewers wondering if ABC has canceled The View for 2025.

Known for its all-women panel, The View is a popular TV chat program that airs on ABC weekdays at 11 a.m. ET. Joy Behar, Ana Navarro, Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin are the hosts currently in place.

The View, which is in its 27th season and was founded by broadcast journalist Barbara Walters, frequently generates news for its celebrity guests, in-depth interviews, and opinions on current social and political issues.  

Was ABC Responsible For The Cancellation Of The View?

Popular social media posts assert that The View on ABC has been canceled and will not be renewed in 2025. The grounds for not renewing Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar’s contracts at ABC include a drop in viewership.

Although these reports have been widely circulated online, ABC has not formally announced that The View would not be returning in 2019. There have previously been false reports about the show’s status and claims that it was removed from ABC’s schedule that went viral online.

A recent instance of this was in March 2024, when an official representative denied internet rumors of dwindling popularity and affirmed, via Reuters, that the show had not been canceled. They mentioned that among American daytime talk shows, The View had the highest viewership.

Cancelling The View – Just A Rumour?

ABC announced that The View has experienced very strong audience statistics in 2024, achieving the top rank for daytime network talk shows and news programs for the weeks of February 26 and March 4. The View’s spokesman also refuted cancellation reports. Therefore, it seems exceedingly improbable that The View has been canceled considering its recent results.

Executive producer Brian Teta of the program earlier this year (via The Wrap Pro) credited the increase in viewing of the talk show to the participation of political luminaries like Vice President Kamala Harris, Chris Christie, and Liz Cheney, as well as performers who are significant to culture, such Robert Downey Jr. 

Given that 2024 is a presidential election year and in light of recent and unusual current events, high numbers and involvement are also anticipated to continue. Furthermore, as the political developments of this year will only continue to unfold in the upcoming year, 2025 will probably continue this pattern.

The View’s cancelation speculations may also be fueled by the polarizing political environment in the US, particularly after NBC canceled Morning Joe in the wake of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on July 13. But since the idea behind The View is to present a variety of, frequently opposing viewpoints, controversy and criticism are nothing new for the program and frequently serve as a draw for viewers.

It is therefore unlikely that ABC will remove The View from its schedule for 2025 as long as the program is performing well.
