Only Murders In The Building Season 4 – Everything We Know
Only Murders In The Building Season 4 – Everything We Know So Far
Only Murders in the Building season three went out with a bang — literally.
After revealing that the (spoiler alert!) producers of Death Rattle Dazzle, Cliff (Wesley Taylor) and Donna (Linda Emond), were the ones who killed Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd) because he was ruining their show, the final moments of the third installment also revealed the show’s next murder victim: Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch).
Charles’ (Steve Martin) longtime stunt double was in his apartment, getting a bottle of wine to celebrate the Broadway show’s great opening night when a bullet passed through his window and struck her square in the chest. As she dies, she starts writing something on the kitchen floor with her blood, and the screen goes black.
Season four of Only Murders will follow Mabel (Selena Gomez), Charles, and Oliver (Martin Short) as they investigate who killed Sazz, whether they were truly going for Charles, and why anyone would want to kill either of them. These are all questions that showrunner John Hoffman and his writing team will have to answer in the next episode of the series.
Only Murders In The Building Season 4 Release Date
On October 3, Hulu announced that Only Murders in the Building had been renewed for a fourth season, the same day season three’s final episode was released. Disney has announced that the first episode of the next edition of the series will be released on August 27, with further episodes released weekly.
Cast Of Only Murders In The Building Season 4 – Who Will Be Returning?
The cast’s story is beginning to emerge. Fans can take consolation in the fact that the show’s main trio — Mabel, Charles, and Oliver — will undoubtedly return. Despite the heartbreaking loss of Sazz in season three, Lynch will return, most likely in flashbacks, just as Rudd’s Ben did despite dying in the first episode.
In an interview with People, the Glee star said that she had “some great flashbacks” and stated that she’ll “also appear in [the season] another way” but wouldn’t say how. “I don’t want to give it away, but I’m really into it,” she added, smiling. “I’m in five out of 10 episodes, so I’m excited.”
Meryl Streep and Jesse Williams joined the show’s third season, along with a few other newcomers. Co-creator Hoffman told THR following last season’s finale that there was “no higher hope for me” than getting the two of them back: “I love them both, Jesse and Meryl, everyone. For God’s sake, I’d bring Paul back if we could. Listen, I would bring everyone back, and that might happen. Victims, killers, they can all play a role in the landscape as we tell our stories in specific narrative ways.”
What Will The Storyline Of Only Murders In The Building Be About?
As with each previous season, in the last minutes of season three, they were revealed whose murder the trio will investigate in season four. This time, Mabel, Charles, and Oliver must determine who killed their cherished friend and Charles’ longtime stunt double, Sazz. Only Murders in the Building executive producer Jess Rosenthal recommended Sazz as the murder victim, and Hoffman jumped at the chance. He told THR that he thought it was both “awful” and “perfect.”
Is There a Season 4 Trailer for ‘Only Murders’?
Only Murders debuted the first teaser for its upcoming season as part of Disney’s upfront presentation in May. The one-minute-and-a-half glimpse at the Emmy-winning series begins just after the end of season three when Mabel, Oliver, and Charles celebrated a successful Death Rattle Dazzle opening night. With the party ended and the season’s killers revealed, the trio is ready for their next murder investigation until they uncover Sazz’s death on Charles’ kitchen floor.
Oliver goes right into the investigation, despite Charles’ astonishment upon finding that his longtime stunt double and friend has died. When Mabel claims that she has gotten an email from a Hollywood studio offering to make their podcast into a movie, the friends pack their bags and travel to Los Angeles, which happens to be where Meryl Streep’s Loretta Durkin ended up after season three.
