Naomi Sablan has established herself as a film and television producer, working on a wide range of films from laugh-out-loud comedies to in-depth character studies. Sablan began her Hollywood career as an extra in the 2001 film Kissing Jessica Stein and then worked as a segment producer on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Naomi has been a television and film producer since the early 2000s. Her most prominent films include Fun Mom Dinner (featuring Adam and Toni Collette) and Other People (starring Jesse Plemons and Molly Shannon), both of which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

Naomi and Adam have also co-produced television shows through their own company. Naomi can thank late-night TV for helping her get started. The producer began her career as a segment producer on Jimmy Kimmel Live! during the show’s inaugural season in 2003. Other People (2016)

Other People is a comedy-drama about David (Jesse Plemons), a young comedy writer who is suffering with his personal and professional life. He must return home to care for his dying mother Joanne (Molly Shannon) while also striving to reconcile with both his family and himself. Other People was nominated for multiple Independent Spirit Awards, which is understandable given that it is Naomi Sablan’s best-produced picture. Normal People is a profound, well-made picture that anybody can connect with, thanks to a group of superb actors who provide terrific performances, incredible writing that manages to be both amusing and poignant at the same time, and excellent directing.

The Overnight (2015)

The Overnight, written and directed by Patrick Brice, follows a couple named Alex (Adam Scott) and Emily (Taylor Schilling) who become friends with another couple named Kurt (Jason Schwartzman) and Charlotte (Judith Godrèche) when their children get along at a playground. What begins as a peaceful picture of couples attempting to be friends evolves into an explosive comedy in which Kurt and Charlotte exhibit their wilder sides to Alex and Emily, and the film’s ability to balance both tones makes it wonderful. Furthermore, the film features solid writing and excellent performances from all of the performers, making The Overnight an exceptionally well-made comedy.

Ghosted (2017-2018)

Ghosted is an FX series that follows Leroy Wright (Craig Robinson) and Max Jennifer (Adam Scott) as they are recruited by a secret organization called The Bureau Underground to investigate a series of paranormal events in Los Angeles. While the show was discontinued after one season, it remains one of Naomi Sablan’s most well-produced television shows. Even though much of the script feels stale and undeveloped, Robinson and Scott have excellent chemistry, as each performer can bounce off the other and give a terrific comedic performance.
