Will There Be A Season 2 Of Ashoka? Everything To Know

Will There Be A Season 2 Of Ashoka?

Ahsoka season 2 is officially in the works, although it will be some months before it airs. The Ahsoka Disney+ TV show, starring Rosario Dawson as the live-action Ahsoka Tano follows her quest to prevent Grand Admiral Thrawn’s (Lars Mikkelsen) reappearance. The show’s scale has been utterly stunning, with its heroes traversing the journey to Peridea and another galaxy.

Ahsoka is the next step in an even more exciting adventure, as Star Wars prepares to release an epic film set in the Mandalorian era, directed by Dave Filoni. Grand Admiral Thrawn has already been revealed as the film’s main adversary, implying that the stars of Ahsoka have a bright future. After months of waiting, Star Wars has officially announced Ahsoka season 2.

Ashoka Season 2 Has Been Cancelled?

Fans, cast, and crew have been campaigning for Ahsoka season 2 for months since the conclusion of the Star Wars TV show, and Star Wars has now officially acknowledged that the next chapter of the story is in process. This confirmation was initially revealed at the announcement of The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, and Star Wars later shared Filoni’s concept art for Ahsoka season 2 to showcase the show’s current stage of development. Given that this project is still under development, no production dates have been announced or predicted; nonetheless, Ahsoka season 2 will be released before Filoni’s conclusion film.

Ahsoka season 2 will most likely begin production once The Mandalorian and Grogu have finished filming, as both projects use the Volume technology and so will have to compete for space – and the creatives behind the project. Natasha Liu Bordizzo has verified this, meaning Ahsoka would begin filming around summer 2025. This means that Ahsoka season 2 will most certainly be released in 2026, continuing The Mandalorian and Grogu’s continuous adventure.

The Cast Of Ashoka Season 2

Ahsoka Tano has been the most enthusiastic fan of Ahsoka Season 2. Dawson began advocating for an Ahsoka season two months before season one’s release, hoping to see a continuation of the series after successfully lobbying for the part. Dawson expressed her wish to continue performing on stage during Star Wars Celebration Europe in April. The actress informed the thousands of fans in attendance that if Ahsoka’s first season is successful, the show may return for a second season, a notion she repeated in multiple interviews. Her words have already come true, as she excitedly announced the news of Ahsoka season 2’s confirmation on Instagram the day of the announcement.

Other cast members, like Eman Esfandi (Ezra Bridger) and Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Sabine Wren), have expressed their excitement for Ahsoka season 2 on social media. Ahsoka will play a significant role in Filoni’s The Mandalorian finale film, and it appears he has pushed for another season to allow him more storyline space. Every member of the cast and crew is enthused about the storytelling value and the high level of professionalism on set, making their forthcoming return even more exciting.

Ashoka Season 2 Release Date

Ahsoka season 2 will most likely not be seen for some time. Given the Hollywood strikes, Filoni was unable to create any scripts for Ahsoka season 2 until late last year. Pre-production takes several months as well, delaying Ahsoka season 2 even further. With months of principal photography and extensive post-production, another cycle of Ahsoka would be at least two years away.

Matters are made even more problematic by the fact that some Ahsoka actors may appear in The Mandalorian and Grogu films, limiting their availability. Filoni, meantime, will serve as an executive producer for Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian & Grogu, which will limit his own time. In terms of logistics, Ahsoka season 2 will be challenging to organize, but not impossible. However, it may result in further delays, with Star Wars fans not seeing it until at least the latter part of 2025.
