Will There Be A Season 4 Of Big Sky? Everything To Know
Will There Be A Season 4 Of Big Sky?
Recently, ABC had to decide to renew several of its primetime programs, Big Sky not being one of them. This cancellation joins the likes of The Company You Keep and Alaska Daily as some of the more unexpected ones, given that the shows’ concepts were distinctive. A lot of things were provided by the 2020 television program Big Sky, which helped it stand apart from other traditional crime dramas. Because it was based on C.J. Box’s The Highway books, there were a ton of unexplored storylines. Leading the female-driven cast, Katheryn Winnick and Kylie Bunbury brought a fresh perspective to the series.
Regretfully for Big Sky, ABC decided not to move forward with a Season 4 since the ratings simply weren’t high enough. It’s unfortunate as Season 3 seemed to be a season of firsts, bringing back some of the best aspects of its first run. In contrast to the previous chapter, “Deadly Trails,” the third one featured Reba McEntire as the director of Sunny Day Excursions, a secretive retreat. For those fans who persevered through three seasons, Big Sky’s cancellation is bittersweet because the show was moving in a promising path.
Big Sky Story And Cast
Every season of Big Sky has a unique plot, which contributes to its uniqueness. This also resulted in the addition of a revolving cast to the Winnick and Bunbury top brass. Along the journey in Big Sky, numerous well-known faces have appeared, including those of Ryan Phillipe, Jensen Ackles, John Carroll Lynch, and the previously mentioned Reba McEntire. Big Sky fans have something to always be on the watch for with so many faces coming in and going out.
Big Sky’s expanding cast of people was a pleasant touch, but its shifting storylines are ultimately what set it apart. There was a subtle thread that ran through all three seasons, but every episode seemed like a chapter in a book. Despite not being an anthology series, there was a feeling that every season had a completely distinct crime, supporting cast, and even tone. Ronald (Brian Geraghty), a truck driver and serial kidnapper, was the main character of the first season. The second episode featured a drug ring, a lot of action (perhaps too much, due to its own mistake), and one of the more nuanced characters in the series, Travis (Logan Marshall-Green).
There were even certain seasons—Season 1, in particular—where the cast and new plots that kept coming in and out made the first and second halves feel like whole different seasons. Because of all of this, Big Sky was a show that always seemed like it had a lot to offer; if the audience didn’t connect with the tale or the actors, a new one would be waiting around the corner.
Has The Release Date Been Announced For Big Sky Season 4?
The way Season 3 concluded truly left the door open for Beau Ackles and Jenny Winnick. Although they had a professional relationship, there was always a sense of something more. In the epilogue, Beau thinks about going out of town with his ex-wife and kid, but his partner pulls him in instead. The final image of them together at Jenny’s house reminded viewers of what might have happened in Season 4.
There was a lot more to explore in Cassie’s story as well. She had recently ignited a romantic relationship with Cormac (Luke Mitchell), and she and Jenny were becoming increasingly proficient at investigating murders. It’s awful to see a show with this much promise cut down before it could conclude on its terms, but there is still hope that some other network may save this series.
