How Does Colin Find Out Penelope Is Lady Whistledown?

Colin learns Penelope’s secret identity at the end of Season 3, Episode 6, “Romancing Mister Bridgerton.” Colin starts following Penelope after watching her and Eloise leave for another room. He is concerned about her well-being as her carriage carries her to a disadvantaged neighborhood (where her publisher’s office is located). Penelope was giving one final Whistledown item to disprove Cressida’s claim for good.

Colin appears when Penelope turns around, his face filled with shock and wrath. “You… are Lady Whistledown?” he demands. Penelope finally admits that she is Whistledown. “All of the lies… you have told me,” he adds, tears flowing down his cheeks. “Everything you’ve written about me and my family. “I knew something was wrong,” Colin confesses. “I stupidly blamed myself, as if I were unworthy of your love. But you are the one at fault.”

He then delivers the most heartbreaking words of all. “I will never forgive you,” he adds, before walking away. The next morning, Cressida Cowper’s Lady Whistledown column is published, but not before the ton receives Penelope’s edition as well. Everyone quickly understands Cressida is lying.
