Sheldon & Amy, Leonard & Penny – Couple Goals
Sheldon & Amy, Leonard & Penny – The Big Bang Theory Couple Goals
Although all of the couples on The Big Bang Theory had difficulties one underrated episode of the iconic sitcom revealed which of them had the strongest interaction. By the end of The Big Bang Theory, almost every one of the show’s primary characters had happy, long-term romantic relationships. Raj was infamously left unmarried in an ending that did not address his yearning for a full love life, yet Howard and Bernadette, Leonard and Penny, and Amy and Sheldon all had wonderful endings. Years later, Young Sheldon’s series finale included a flash-forward that revolved around the couple’s future.
A Sneak Peek Into The Big Bang Theory Couple Goals
While The Big Bang Theory’s next spinoff could give similar insights into the lives of Howard and Bernadette or Leonard and Penny, it is crucial to remember that all three kindergarten couples in the successful satire were highly distinct. Howard and Bernadette met after Leonard and Penny, but they settled in considerably faster than the show’s major protagonists. While Amy and Sheldon seem to have more in common than Howard and Bernadette or Leonard and Penny, their relationship is also one of the most volatile and emotional on the program. One underappreciated episode emphasized this reality.
Leonard And Penny’s Relationship Had Fans Drooling Over Them In The Big Bang Theory…And Perhaps It Was Better Than Amy And Sheldon
In Season 8, Episode 3, “The First Pitch Insufficiency,” Sheldon argues that he and Amy are a better pair than Leonard and Penny since they are so compatible. Leonard and Penny acknowledge they aren’t, but argue that this pushes them to work harder to bridge the gap between their interests. By the end of the episode, it is evident that Penny and Leonard’s differences enrich as opposed to undermine their relationship. The couple in question is rarely in contention with each other because they have various aims and inclinations, and their plans do not center only on one spouse.
The same cannot be true for Sheldon and Amy, whose relationship has been uneven and unfair from the moment they met. Sheldon’s feuds on The Big Bang Theory demonstrate that he has a strong ego and keeps grudges, so it’s not surprising that Amy frequently works around him. Although Amy looked to have the same stubborn and single-minded outlook as Sheldon, as the show went on, it became evident that Sheldon governed the terms of their relationship. This proved a major issue for Amy later on, causing difficulties that Leonard and Penny never experienced.
The Compatible Couple In The Big Bang Theory – Sheldon and Amy
Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory regularly took Amy for granted due to the way they were compatible. Amy fit right into Sheldon’s extremely managed life, allowing him to find love without surrendering the fastidiousness and odd eccentricities that marked his personality. This was enormously convenient for The Big Bang Theory’s fans because it meant Sheldon didn’t have to grow or develop, and the show remained as crazy as before. However, it eventually took its toll on Amy. The final seasons of The Big Bang Theory made it clear that Sheldon had no interest in making concessions to prioritize Amy.
Although The Big Bang Theory’s spinoff may modify this, Amy and Sheldon’s relationship was mainly characterized by him rejecting her demands until they became ultimatums. On occasion, Sheldon felt compelled into action by the prospect of Amy departing. However, even as late as Young Sheldon’s last episode, he constantly dismissed his love interest’s pleas to connect and instead prioritized his work. In the finale of Young Sheldon, Sheldon continues to concentrate on his memoir as opposed to attending his son’s hockey game. He eventually relents and attends the game, but not because Amy wants to.
It’s The Flaws That Fostered Growth In Leonard And Penny’s Relationship
In contrast to Amy and Sheldon, Leonard and Penny developed a stronger bond throughout The Big Bang Theory. There is no doubt that the couple’s courtship had serious flaws, but Penny and Leonard’s lack of shared hobbies accentuated their connection. Initially, the two appeared to have little in common. As a result, the two realized they were in love and not just remaining together for the sake of convenience. Amy was unsure of this, and she believed Sheldon was merely dating her to simplify his life.
Sheldon And Amy Had Issues Too…
While Leonard on The Big Bang Theory was far from optimal Sheldon’s relationship with Amy revealed an issue that the show’s main couple did not expertise. The same attributes that made Sheldon lighthearted made his love relationships frustrating to watch, similar to Barney from How I Met Your Mother and Ross from Friends. Sheldon’s intransigence made him reluctant to develop and grow, and his arrogant attitude made him rarely admit his mistakes. As a result, his confrontations with Amy frequently would last several episodes or turn into deep-seated resentments when Sheldon refused to apologize.
