Weapon X-Traction – Deadpool And Wolverine Unite!

Marvel will celebrate the impending Deadpool and Wolverine film with new comic cover art and a series of team-up stories named Weapon X-Traction. On July 26, fans will be able to see the long-awaited blockbuster starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. However, that is solely the beginning of what Marvel has to give fans. The team-up miniseries Deadpool & Wolverine WWIII (by Adam Kuber and Frank Martin) now chronicles their conflict against the enigmatic villain Delta, while Weapon X-Traction promises additional “violent, crass, and chaotic” adventures.

Just as Deadpool is about to cross the multiverse to join the MCU, he and Wolverine get pulled into their pan-dimensional adventure, where they believe themselves to be robots in a dismal future and attractive, anthropomorphized foxes. Wade Wilson may have felt he had nothing new to learn about himself, but this experience has made him realize that he enjoys being a furry.

Wolverine & Deadpool Team Up As Weapon – X

This summer, the special Weapon X-Traction backup stories will appear throughout Marvel’s most popular series, demanding readers to buy them all. Ryan North (The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl) writes the stories, and Javier Garrón (Miles Morales: Spider-Man) draws them. Similar to the new Deadpool and Wolverine MCU film, Weapon X-Traction follows Wade and Logan throughout their travel through the multiverse, meeting and becoming different versions of themselves.

Weapon X-Traction will be included in eight Marvel books. The story, written by Ryan North and drawn by Javier Garrón, is doing something a little different – chapters of Weapon X-Traction will be included in Marvel’s July and August comics for free, with those volumes also getting committed variant covers involving the Merc with a Mouth and the Best There Is (as well as Dogpool!)

In a recent press release, Marvel announced the reading order for Weapon X-Traction as well as the amusing variant covers that fans can anticipate seeing on comic store shelves. The story’s summary states:

Wolverine and Deadpool are both former members of the enigmatic Weapon X program, a government branch that is dedicated to experimenting on mutants to develop living weapons. Wolverine is regarded as the program’s greatest accomplishment, though Deadpool was seen as a failed experiment until Weapon X sought to dispose of him and found his tremendous healing factor.
